Wegmeyer Farms

On Saturday we went pumpkin and raspberry picking at Wegmeyer Farms in Loudoun County with our friends, the Ellicotts. The farm is a little off the beaten path so we were pleasantly surprised to have the pumpkin patch all to ourselves. The boys had a fabulous time and we came home with some great pumpkins and yummy raspberries. On the way we also passed by Pumpkinville at Leesburg Animal Park. Can't wait until Noah is old enough to go there so we can try the haystack slide!

Final Cut BCBG Max Azria

The Leesburg Corner Premium Outlets now has a Final Cut BCBG Max Azria store in addition to the BCBG Outlet. I went there for the first time a couple of weeks ago and it was great. Everything was organized into $29, $39, and $49 racks. What a steal!

It's fall! So this weekend we're off to a local Loudoun farm, Wegmeyer Farms. Should be lots of fun for Noah - hayrides and pumpkin picking. Tons of pictures to come :)

Windy City Red Hots

Discovered this place on yelp and decided to check it out - Windy City Red Hots. It's a truck parked in a local nursery that sells Chicago style hot dogs. Mike had their Windy City Red Hot which is a 100% pure beef hot dog topped with mustard, relish, onions, tomato, pickle, sport peppers and celery salt on a poppy seed bun. He loved it. I had the chili cheese dog. It was delish. We also split chili cheese fries. This place is definitely a come backer (just not every week - I don't think my heart could take it!).

The Counter

On Friday, Mike and I had an early dinner in Reston Town Center at the latest restaurant, The Counter. I had the Old School - 1/3 lb. All-Natural Ground Beef, Tillamook Cheddar Cheese, Lettuce, Tomato, Onion, Pickles & Red Relish (aka home-made Ketchup). Mike had a customized burger. Move over Hell Burger cause there's a new King of Burgers in town. The burger was juicy and full of flavor. They have a ton of "unique" toppings, but the Old School was classic and pure perfection. Note for those who like their burgers fully cooked, their idea of well done is pink throughout.

Weekend Update . . .

On Saturday, we took Noah to Chuck E. Cheese for the first time. We went for Griffin's Birthday party. Noah had a great time eating pizza, watching Chuck E., and going down the slide. Afterwards we went to the Kennedy Center for the Open House Arts/Multicultural Children's Book Festival. The book festival didn't have too many Asian books, but we were able to get Noah two plus a children's book on President Obama. The Open House Arts part of the festival had tons of fun street performers and performances inside and outside. It was great family fun!

Here's Mike and Noah watching Mambo Sauce perform . . .

On Sunday, we went to King's Dominion for Mike's company Employee Appreciation Day. Apparently there were no rides that Noah could go on with an adult so we watched one of the shows and then had lunch with Nate, Kate, Sal, and Julia before heading home. When we got home, I wanted to try a new recipe and made this http://www.foodandwine.com/recipes/sauteed-chicken-with-olives-capers-and-roasted-lemons and it was tasty!

Weekend Idea . . .

If you're looking for something fun to do with the kids this weekend, the Kennedy Center is hosting an Open House Arts Festival and Multicultural Children's Book Festival. The schedule is filled with performances and readings that look to be entertaining for the whole family. Noah loves reading before bedtime and I hope to get some great new books to add to his library.
